Throughout the year we display various banners in the front of
our sanctuary. The banners are shown below along with a
description of when they are displayed and what the parts
represent. |

Lenten Banner
This banner displays the symbols of
Lent: the towel and bowl of water for Jesus washing His
followers feet, the rooster (cock) for Peter denying Jesus three
times, the bag of gold for Judas' betrayal, the Palm branch for
triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Communion cup
and wafer for the Last Supper. Finally, the Crown of Thorns
symbolizes
the crucifixion.

Alleluia Banner
This is displayed
Easter Sunday. The butterflies are a symbol of new life.
The circle is a symbol of the world and God's love for
us. The color purple symbolizes Jesus' royalty and the
crown circling the cross represents Christ's victory
over the cross of death.

Pentecost Banner
The wording
emphasizes the "oneness" of all people. The Pentecost
flame is made of the colors red, brown, yellow, black
and white representing people of every race. The dove
depicts the descending of the Holy Spirit.

Advent Banner
This banner shows
the often circuitous path people follow to come to
Christ. It encourages all people (depicted by the town)
to "make a straight path for Him".

Christmas Sunday Banner
The bursting star refers to the
miracle of Jesus birth and his ascendancy over all. The
trumpets hail Him as King of the world (depicted by the
brown circle). The wording indicates that we should all
be born again in Christ.

Epiphany Banner
This banner shows
the Three Kings following the star of Bethlehem in their
search for the Christ Child. The wording encourages
proclamation of the birth of our Savior.

New Life Banner
It shows a
sunrise as a new beginning. The seed growing into a
plant symbolizes spiritual growth. The new life is our
gift from God.
Made as
a gift to the church from a group of young mothers. |

Wedding Banner
This banner
depicts the union of two people in the bonds of Holy
Matrimony blessed by the church of Jesus Christ. The
gold cross is encircled by two gold rings symbolizing
the wedding rings.
